Give Back.

Grow Goodness.

Cultivate Gratitude.

At The Neighborhood Sprouts, our vision is simple yet profound: to nurture a generation of compassionate, community-minded individuals who understand the power of giving back. We believe that by planting the seeds of kindness and empathy in the hearts of children, we can grow a brighter, more connected world.

Empowering Young Hearts

We envision a future where every child feels empowered to make a difference, no matter their age. Our programs are designed to inspire kids to look beyond themselves, to see the needs of others, and to take action. By fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership in children, we aim to cultivate young hearts that are not only aware of their community but are also active participants in its growth and well-being.

Hello! I'm Jan, the founder of The Neighborhood Sprouts.

As a mom of three in Edgewood, I struggled to find an organization that taught my kids the value of community service and generosity. When my search came up empty, I decided to create it myself.

The Neighborhood Sprouts was born from my passion for community service, activism, and nurturing children's growth. With experience in nonprofit work and a love for organizing community events, starting The Sprouts felt like a natural fit. While I wear many hats—wife, mom, community activist, and more—being a mom is my favorite role.

My goal is to raise children who understand the importance of giving back and community involvement. I believe in a world where love, growth, and positive change thrive, and that starts with teaching the next generation about kindness and compassion.

'Give Back, Grow Goodness, Cultivate Gratitude' isn’t just our tagline—it’s our mission. Together, we can make our communities better, one Sprout at a time.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Warmest regards,

Jan O’Shaughnessy
